Astor Midnight Blue + 2 types of glitter

I bought few amazing glitter polishes lately and I couldn't think of a better base polish to try them on.

First one is Essence Mr. and Mrs. Glitter. Big hexagonal glitter in golden and blue color (with just a few black ones) in clear base. I must say I wasn't very satisfied with it: I had to fish for glitter. In first coat I had one to none glitter pieces on each nail!
But with two generous coats this is the result:

On top of it all I had to try this polish which just arrived to my adress: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails with Nylon named Twinkle. It's mainly holo stripe glitter mixed with tiny round holo glitter.

I must say the final resuslt almost looks like one of those indie polishes (which I have no intention of buying, they're too pricey for me!).

Astor Midnight Blue

I know I've shown you this one already, and I know it's discontinued so even if you do have Astor nail polishes in your country (which we don't have here in Croatia) you won't be able to purchase it.

But I love this polish above all other dark blue shimmer polishes. In fact: I worship this polish!  It's so old and dense now that I have to pour four to five drops of OPI polish thinner and it's still hardly applicable.

Once you've seen the color of this polish you'll be enchanted, I' m sure of it!
Dark blue with lighter blue shimmer. Dark enough to look like a night sky, but not dark enough to appear black in most surroundings.

And one coat is more than enough due to great pigmentation.

Now, please come with some of the suggestions for dupes since soon enough not even the OPI thinner will be able to fix this problem!

Thanks in advance :)

Valentino in Las Vegas

Today I have an upgrade of Sally Hansen's Valentino form my last post with Essence flakie topper Las Vegas.

I can't rememer last time I got so much compliments for a mani. I worked in a mall and so many women who saw me for the first time had a need to comment and compliment my nails.
Such a wonderful sensation  :)

I guess the deep, dark brown polish as Valentino fits perectly with moody, colorful flakies. They change their color depending on the base polish and this one is a winner.

And with flash:

Sally Hansen Valentino

I have a bunch of photos I haven't had a chance to post on my blog and now's the time since my nails are too short and not looking very appealing on the photos.

This one here is Sally Hansen Valentino from an old collection called Project Runway. I wrote about another polish from this collection, Arabian Nights, here.  I love the names of those!   :)

All polishes from the collection have few things in common: they have beautiful golden shimmer/flecks and they dry for ages due to their old formula.

This here is two coats with Essence Better Than Gel Nails Top Coat (for quick drying).
It's a very dark brown (almost black, but not quite) with golden shimmer that is visible even when there's not much light.

Essence Sunshine and Red Roses

Although my nails are very short and not very representative I just had to show you this beauty of a polish!

I accidentally grabbed it at Müller while shopping for some snacks to shorten my working hours. I had no intention of buying any cosmetics, but when I saw this beauty I couldn't resist.
I'm actually on my no-buy-month but for 14 kn (2.5$) I had to break my promise to myself   :)

This is a clear-base glitter polish with a twist! It contains red hearts, but also a smaller multicolor glitter that adds a bit of a fun to it.
I'm in love!
This is one coat, plus I had to fish for hearts on some nails since I wanted two hearts and I could get none in one layer. But the fishing wasn't too hard, though.
I was dissapointed with other glitter toppers. They don't look half as good as on the promo photos!

Midie no. 322

A long time ago I bought this polish. It's a no name brand I found in a local China shop and that I purchased before coming to conclusion that I really shouldn't buy all sorts of polishes.
I hate so many things about this polish.

I hate it's stench, I hate the fact that it's hardly manageable a year after it was opened (I have few Zoya polishes 4 years old that are in a far better condition).
But what I hate the most is that this cheap crap always makes my nails split!

At first I thought it was a coincidence: I put on this lovely polish on my long and healthy nails and a week later they were gone. Had to chop 'em of completely :(
I tried to do that two times since than and every time it's the same result.
As I am writing this post I'm looking at my poor, short, chubby nails and cursing the day I purchased this polish.

What I loooove about it? The color, obviously...

P.S. I finally got rid of that polish after the third shortening of my nails!

Vollare Joy no. 81

I always  love it when I buy a no-name (Vollare) cheap-as-can-get polish (1$) that turns out to be exactly what I wanted from a nail polish.

I'm a bit obsessed with brown shimmery polishes, you see... :)
And I can hardly resist a good shimmery brown even at a higher price. So it was no wonder I grabbed this one as soon as I saw it.
And it turned to be one of my most precious browns, including Sephora Smurf and Alessandro Belle Mademoiselle.
Wonderful brown with red undertone and burgundy shimmer.
Lovely and easy one-coater.

Next time I'm buying a bunch of Vollare Joys when I see them again. :)

Look by Bipa Special Effect: Metallic Violet

No words necessary for this amazing polish.

Vibrant metallic purple color (not as much violet, as the name says).
One coat is enough.

And my camera doesn't do it justice. :(
It's more vibrant and not that brush strokey as it appears on the photos.

This polish glows, like I had liquid metal on my nails!

Pure Ice Purple Reign

On the swatches I've seen on the internet, this polish looks more pink than purple, but I find it to be a bit darker.
It's very similar to Sally Hansen Arabian Nights, to the point where I was looking at the photos of both of them trying to figure out which is Purple Reign.
They both have wonderful golden flecks that add depth to the polish.
But I like Sally a bit more because it takes two coats to get it done, while I needed three for Pure Ice.

I tried to get the color as accurate as possible and I think I succeeded.

Depend Magnetic 6005

Happy New Year, and may it be (even) better than the last one for all of you!!!

I was in a bit of a rush when I did this mani, since we decided on 30th that we're going on a two-day trip to Osijek. I came home from work that evening, and the plan was to go early in the morning.
I didn't have time to do something special for a New Year celebration, so I put on this magical time-savior polish.

Depend Magnetic polish is the best magnetic I've ever seen. What I love about it is a great contrast between base color and magnetic particles that gives 3D effect.
Next best thing: small holo particles that shine and add extra dressy feeling to this polish.
And finally: just one coat and relatively fast drying.
